Dealing With Distractions

“Do not disturb! Don’t bother me! God has me in a process and I refuse to come out prematurely! I’ve been focusing on what He wants for and out of my life and I’m afraid if I allow you to disrupt that I may not get this time back. If you’re really and truly apart of the plan and purpose for my life you’ll be there when this process is complete; but for right now I have to stay focused. My destiny depends on it“! -Prophetess Shere G.

Have you ever felt like there were doors that you needed to get to but could not figure out how to get there or which one to take? Have you ever wondered why you haven’t gotten to the place that you know God has called you to? Does it feel like you’re in a never ending cycle that keeps taking you back to where you started? I’ve felt like this countless times. God has called me to do something so great but the minute I set my mind to do what He called me to do SOMETHING pulls my attention away pushing me back farther than I intended. You’ve got to realize that the minute you make up in your mind you’re going to be who God created you to be you’re going to deal with distractions from every angle. It’s very important not to entangle yourself with these distractions because they’re designed to keep you from reaching your place of destiny. Certain things were created to entice us and draw us away but God has a way of getting us back on track. One by one if He has to isolate you from those things He will! You’re in a process to get to the place God has called you to; It’s not an overnight trip. Some things and people cannot go along with you because they will set you back. Somehow you have to learn how to take the journey alone. It’s a journey designed especially for you and it too important to miss a single moment. It’s an uncomfortable place to do certain things alone but God is with you and He will never fail you. Sometimes you have to put yourself in place of solace and hang a “Do Not Disturb” sign up. It’s important because if you allow things to get into your gates (your mind, your heart, your eyes, your ears) you’ll end up with a cluttered area that could cause you to miss something critical. You’ll know you’re in a season when God is trying to get you somewhere when you notice things coming at you out of nowhere! The calls from the exes, chaos at your job, disruptions in your family and finances etc…But if you allow your focus to be fixed on the goal you can’t lose. There’s no way you can lose with God anyway. I had to realize some of the things I thought were helping me were nothing but distractions. It’s funny that you don’t recognize a distraction right away, but the closer you become to the Lord the easier it will be to recognize and call out the things that pop up to deter you. (1 Peter 5:8) It’s vital however that you learn the lesson that each of these things bring. God will allow you to be distracted long enough for you to learn the lesson and keep it moving. Don’t get me wrong He’s not testing you but He’s actually allowing these things to work for your good! He’s trying to get you somewhere! (Romans 8:28) (Isaiah 54:17). Take the lesson and learn from it so that you won’t become a repeat offender in this season. No matter what it may look like, how dressed up it is, and good it smells, how right it feels, or how long it’s been there; a DISTRACTION IS A DISTRACTION and it only serves one purpose; to deter you. You have to have the determination to stay so close to God that NOTHING gets in your way. Your destiny is too important. Your value is too great. Your purpose is so worth fighting for to stay relevant. If you have to go into a box and lock yourself in until God is able to get you built up enough to be released again do it! Give Him the keys and He will place them in the right hands. I’ve become so desperate for the will of God that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to stay in His grace. That’s where I get the ability to do things I can’t do on my own. That’s how I obtain favor everywhere I go. That’s where my promotions come from. God’s grace will keep you even when you don’t want to be kept. It’s important to feed your spirit more than feeding into the desires of your flesh; one has to be stronger there’s no balance between your flesh and spirit. What YOU feed the most will grow! By any means necessary be determined to go through and complete the process that you’re in! Be willing to allow God to shave off any area of your life that is unfruitful and unproductive! The process has a purpose to strengthen you, equip you and validate you! The quicker you see the beauty in the process and fall in love with it, the more you learn to appreciate it and understand its value.

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
~Psalm 1:1-3~

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Shere
